I work in Seongsu, in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, so most of my meals here are weekday lunches and after-work dinners with coworkers. This page collects the Seongsu restaurants I have reviewed on this blog: two Korean BBQ places near Seongsu Station, a 24-hour gukbap restaurant, a tuna course restaurant and a small home-style lunch place. Every one of them is somewhere I have eaten and paid, and each section below links to the full review with photos, menus and prices.

The five places at a glance

| Mongttang Saenggogi (몽땅생고기) | Fresh pork BBQ | 7 servings of samgyeopsal, yukhoe, kimchi jjigae | 4.5 / 5 |

Korean BBQ near Seongsu Station
Both BBQ places are on the Exit 1 side of Seongsu Station on Line 2, and both were after-work dinners with three coworkers in March 2026. At both, we grilled the meat ourselves at the table. The difference is in how the meal is built.
Seokam Saengsogeum-gui: pork on a stone, Chapagetti to finish
Seokam is at 97 Achasan-ro, about 45 m from Exit 1. The grill is a heavy black stone plate. Before the pork arrives, the stone already has kimchi, whole garlic cloves and a small bowl of sauce on it, and everything cooks together. When you finish the meat, you order stone-plate Chapagetti (돌판짜파게티, 6,500 won on DiningCode) on the table tablet, and a staff member spreads the cooked noodles across the same stone.
We went on a Tuesday evening and waited about 20 minutes in line. The pork was fantastic: moist, and good with the kimchi grilled next to it. The meal took about an hour from the first photo to the last plate of noodles. On DiningCode’s menu, the pork cuts are 16,000 to 17,000 won a serving, and a mixed platter is 38,000 won. Seokam is a chain with other branches in Seoul, including one at Konkuk University on the same road, so check that your map shows 성수점 (Seongsu branch).

Mongttang Saenggogi: a grill full of samgyeopsal

Mongttang Saenggogi is at 8 Achasan-ro 7-gil, about 150 m from the station on the Exit 1 side. The name means roughly “all the fresh meat”, and the branch calls itself the main branch (본점). Four of us ordered seven servings of fresh samgyeopsal, which at 170 g a serving covered the whole round grill plate. The samgyeopsal was very good, and it is the reason I would go back. The yukhoe (seasoned raw beef, 28,000 won) was average. We walked in on a Wednesday evening without a wait and stayed about two hours.
The menu boards are in Korean only. Samgyeopsal was 17,000 won a serving in March 2026, and the board also lists neck, skin-on belly, jowl and loin cap, plus two platters named “half the pig” and “the whole pig”. The full review has the menu in English.

Which BBQ to pick
- Seokam if you want the stone-plate experience with kimchi and garlic on the grill and noodles at the end, and do not mind a line.
- Mongttang Saenggogi if you want a plain, pork-focused dinner with a lot of samgyeopsal for a group.
Gukbap at any hour: Dammion

Dammion is in Seongsu Academy Tower at 118 Seongsui-ro, right in front of Seongsu Station, and it is open 24 hours. Gukbap (국밥) is soup with rice, and Dammion’s menu is built around it. I have been twice with the same coworker: a weekday lunch in March and a late dinner at about 8 p.m. in April after we stayed late at the office.
The first time, we both had budae suyuk gukbap: boiled pork in a red broth with sausage and about half a pack of ramyeon on top. It was very good, and it felt like two dishes in one. The second time, I had the eolkun gukbap (얼큰국밥, spicy gukbap, 11,000 won), which had pork in every spoonful, and we shared a large plate of pyeonyuk (pressed sliced pork, 14,000 won). You order on a tablet at the table, which has photos and a language button. Both times it was busy, with a lot of foreign visitors along with Korean customers.

A tuna course for a group: Jeong Chamchi

Jeong Chamchi is on the second floor at 289-14 Seongsu-dong 2-ga. At a Korean tuna restaurant like this, you choose a course priced per person, and the course sets how many times the tuna board is refilled. Four of us from work had the Gold course, which includes two refills, and they brought us a third. It was the first time I have found it hard to finish a tuna dinner.
The boards held fatty belly, lean tuna in cubes and other cuts, with inari sushi, seared slices, ginkgo nuts, white kimchi and miso soup around them. We ate in a private room, which made it a good fit for a team dinner. I did not note the price per person, so ask before you order. The full review has a table of the tuna cuts with their Korean and Japanese names.

A weekday lunch: Dalnimine

Dalnimine is a small home-style lunch restaurant at 31 Achasan-ro 13-gil, with a handwritten whiteboard menu of set meals, stir-fries, fried rice and snack foods. A coworker and I went at the start of lunch hour in May 2026 and waited about five minutes, because the room is small.
We shared the Spam and fried eggs (스팸&후라이, 15,000 won) and jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork, 11,000 won). The Spam plate was very good and huge for two people, but it is the most expensive item on the board. The jeyuk was good, on the sweet side. For a cheaper lunch, the set meal (백반) is 8,000 won and the fried rice dishes are 9,000 won.

Matching the place to the meal
- After-work BBQ with a group: Seokam or Mongttang Saenggogi.
- Late at night, or a quick hot meal by the station: Dammion, open 24 hours.
- A team dinner in a private room: Jeong Chamchi.
- A weekday lunch for two: Dalnimine.
Words that help on Seongsu menus
- 삼겹살 (samgyeopsal): pork belly.
- 생고기 (saenggogi): fresh meat that has not been frozen.
- 국밥 (gukbap): soup served with rice.
- 참치 (chamchi): tuna. 뱃살 (baetsal) is the fatty belly.
- 백반 (baekban): a set meal of rice, soup and side dishes.
- 성수점 (Seongsu-jeom): Seongsu branch, useful when a restaurant is a chain.
Prices on this page are the ones in each review, from menu boards, tablets or DiningCode at the dates given there, and some have changed since. I will add new Seongsu restaurants to this page as I review them.
