Pungnyeon Hoecenter (풍년회센타) is a grilled shellfish restaurant by Bangpo Harbor on Anmyeondo, the island at the southern end of Taean on Korea’s west coast. We stopped there on May 4, 2026, as a family of four, on the drive home from a camping weekend at Naepo Camping Square. We grilled mixed shellfish and king prawns at the table and added bajirak kalguksu and nakji tangtangi. The grilled shellfish was very good, and our kids loved watching the shells pop open on the grill.

Lunch on the way home from camping
We had spent a few days camping at Naepo Camping Square in South Chungcheong. On May 4, we packed up and drove toward home by way of Anmyeondo, and stopped at Pungnyeon Hoecenter for a seafood meal before the long drive back to Hanam.
The restaurant has two buildings side by side: an older low building with a black sign that says 꽃게 (blue crab) and 조개구이 (grilled shellfish), and a newer building next to it with a blue sign. The address plate on the new building reads 24, which matches the address DiningCode gives. There is a parking area in front, and DiningCode tags the restaurant as having free parking.

Inside, the dining room is a large hall of red wooden picnic tables with benches. Each table has a grill set into the middle.

The menu board
The grilled shellfish menu (조개구이) is on a large board on the wall. There are four combinations, each in small (2 people), medium (3 people) and large (4 people) sizes. A card next to the board says 주문은 인원수대로, meaning you order according to the number of people at the table. These were the prices when we went:
| Set | Korean | Small / medium / large (won) |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed shellfish | 모듬조개 | 60,000 / 90,000 / 110,000 |
| Mixed shellfish + king prawns | 모듬조개+대하 | 80,000 / 110,000 / 130,000 |
| Mixed shellfish + raw fish | 모듬조개+회 | 90,000 / 120,000 / 140,000 |
| Pen shell + scallops | 키조개+가리비 | 80,000 / 110,000 / 130,000 |

The add-on section of the board lists:

|---|---|---|
| Raw fish | 회 | 40,000 |
| Abalone | 전복 | 30,000 |
| Fish bone stew | 서더리탕 | 15,000 |
| Pen shell seaweed soup | 키조개미역국 | 10,000 |
| King prawns | 대하 | 30,000 |
| Mixed seafood platter | 모듬해산물한판 | 40,000 |
| Chopped live octopus | 낙지탕탕이 | 20,000 |
| Clam knife-cut noodle soup | 바지락칼국수 | 9,000 |
| Extra shellfish | 조개추가 | 25,000 |
| Fried king prawns | 대하튀김 | 10,000 |
| Extra charcoal | 숯불추가 | 5,000 |
A small poster beside the board also offers a flying fish roe rice ball (날치알 주먹밥) for 4,000 won. DiningCode’s menu describes the plain mixed shellfish set as including pen shell, plenty of scallops and sea snails.
Grilling the shellfish
Our shellfish came piled high: scallops in their shells, abalone, clams and pen shell. Everything goes onto the grill over hot coals, along with foil trays of melted cheese. As the shells heat up, they open, and the meat cooks in its own juice. We turned them with tongs as they cooked.

The grilled shellfish was the highlight of the meal. It is also a bit lively. At one point a shell spat hot juice toward my eye as it opened, which gave me a fright. Nothing more than that happened, but it is worth leaning back a little as the shells heat up.

Our kids loved it. They ate a lot of the grilled shellfish, and they were fascinated by the way the shells slowly opened on the grill as they cooked. For them, watching the shells was as much fun as eating.
King prawns
The king prawns (대하) were cooked in a foil tray on the grill. Once they turned orange, we peeled them at the table.

Nakji tangtangi and side dishes
Nakji tangtangi (낙지탕탕이) is live small octopus chopped into small pieces, served raw with sesame oil and sesame seeds. Ours came on a plate over sliced cucumber. It was served with a round of side dishes, including seasoned vegetables, pumpkin and several other small plates.

Bajirak kalguksu
We finished with bajirak kalguksu (바지락칼국수), knife-cut wheat noodles in a clear clam broth with zucchini and green onion, 9,000 won on the board. It came in a large bowl that we shared.

Words on the board
- 조개구이 (jogae-gui): grilled shellfish.
- 모듬 (modeum): assorted, a mix.
- 대하 (daeha): large prawns.
- 키조개 / 가리비 (kijogae / garibi): pen shell and scallop.
- 소 / 중 / 대 (so / jung / dae): small, medium, large; here they mean 2, 3 and 4 people.
- 숯불추가 (sutbul chuga): extra charcoal for the grill.
Tips for families
- Kids: ours enjoyed watching the shells open as much as eating them. Keep small faces back from the grill, as shells can spit hot juice.
- Ordering: set sizes are by number of people, and the restaurant asks you to order for the number at the table.
- Noodles: the 9,000 won bajirak kalguksu is an easy add-on to share at the end.
- Hours: DiningCode lists 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A visitor post quoted on DiningCode gives Sunday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., so check Naver Map before a late visit.
Worth the stop?
Yes. There was nothing we were disappointed by, the grilled shellfish was very good, and the kids were happy the whole meal. As a stop on the way home from a trip to Taean, it worked well for our family. I am giving it 4.5 out of 5.
More seafood we have written about:
