Choice Gamil Review: Conveyor Belt Sushi and Seafood Ramyeon in Hanam

Choice (초이스) is a conveyor belt sushi and raw fish restaurant on Gamiljungang-ro in Gamil, Hanam. Besides the sushi going round on the belt, you can order sashimi platters, seafood and hot dishes from a tablet at the table. We went as a family of four in March 2026 and had belt sushi, seafood ramyeon, grilled mackerel and cheese corn. Everything was fine but ordinary; nothing stood out as very good.

A conveyor belt restaurant in Gamil

Choice is close to home for us, and conveyor belt sushi is an easy family dinner because the kids can pick plates for themselves. The sign outside calls it 신개념 내맘대로 오마카세, a “new concept, my-way omakase”, with glass fish tanks in front of the entrance.

Inside, a long conveyor belt runs through the room with counter seats and booths along it. The plates travel under clear domes, and the plate colors, such as pink, yellow and green, mark different prices. When we went, plates were priced by color. DiningCode now lists belt sushi at a single price of 2,300 won a plate (checked September 2026), so the pricing may have changed since our visit.

Ordering on the tablet

Hot dishes and anything not on the belt are ordered on a tablet at the table. It has a LANGUAGE button in the corner. The categories on the left side are:

  • 점심특선: lunch specials
  • 초이스회 / 초이스 스페셜회: the house sashimi platters
  • 보약(해산물): seafood such as live octopus, abalone, sea squirt and sea cucumber
  • 시원한 물회: cold raw fish soup
  • 스끼(튀김류) / 스끼(구이류) / 스끼(무침류): fried, grilled and seasoned side dishes

These were some of the prices on the tablet pages I photographed:

DiningCode’s current menu for the restaurant adds a few more prices (checked September 2026): a lunch special of 15,000 won per person, for two or more, with 10 pieces of sashimi, side dishes, fish roe rice and spicy fish soup, eaten in only; live octopus at 24,000 won; abalone sashimi (4 pieces) at 24,000 won; sea squirt and sea cucumber at 18,000 won each; and a Choice set for two at 90,000 won. It lists the mixed seafood platter at 58,000 won, higher than the tablet price when we went, so check the tablet when you order.

DiningCode also lists single-fish sashimi platters in three sizes (checked September 2026), from 48,000 won for a small large-flatfish platter to 96,000 won for a large flounder platter.

When we went in March 2026, a sign above the tablets advertised a Naver receipt review event: post a review with a photo of your food and the listed keywords, show it to the staff, and you get a free plate of sushi.

What we ate

We took plates of sushi from the belt as they came past, and ordered three dishes from the tablet. The seafood ramyeon came in a wide blue-rimmed bowl: noodles in an orange broth with a whole shrimp, mussels, octopus, enoki mushrooms and bean sprouts. The grilled mackerel came as two split halves on a wooden board with a lemon wedge and lettuce. The cheese corn was sweet corn under melted cheese in a small hot pan.

For our family, Choice was just okay. None of us found anything very good, and none of it was bad; the sushi and the dishes we ordered tasted ordinary. The belt and the tablet made it easy to feed everyone, which is the main thing it did well for us.

Words on the tablet

  • 회 (hoe): raw fish, sashimi.
  • 회전초밥 (hoejeon chobap): conveyor belt sushi.
  • 스끼 (seukki): short for 스끼다시, the small dishes served with raw fish.
  • 구이 (gui): grilled.
  • 물회 (mulhoe): raw fish in a cold, spicy broth.
  • 보약 (boyak): literally “tonic”, used here for seafood sold as good for your health.

Practical notes

  • Hours: DiningCode lists 1 p.m. to midnight.
  • With kids: DiningCode tags the restaurant as having high chairs.
  • Location: it is on the first floor at 80 Gamiljungang-ro, the same address as the Japanese restaurant YONEZ.
  • Prices: belt plate prices and some tablet prices seem to have changed since our visit, so check before you order.

Would we go back?

Maybe, as an easy family dinner close to home, but not for the food in particular. It was all average for us. For another conveyor belt sushi restaurant in the area, see our Sushi Ian Wirye review. I am giving Choice 3.5 out of 5.
