ChaCha Bakery (차차빵집) is a small neighborhood bakery café on the ground floor of a building on Sinusil-ro in Gamil, Hanam, a few minutes from where we live. We stopped in as a family in March 2026 and had a sliced loaf, a salt bread, a chocolate roll cake and two iced lattes at a window table. The bread is warm, chewy and well filled, with a classic bakery taste rather than anything unusual.

A bakery in the neighborhood
ChaCha Bakery has a striped awning, a small wooden sign, and the line “Healthy baked every day” on the window. Inside there is a counter with the coffee machine, bread laid out on wooden racks along the front window, and a handful of tables. It is the kind of bakery you walk to rather than drive to, and my wife first went there soon after it opened.
One thing to know if you live nearby: it is closed on Sundays. My wife found that out the hard way, arriving with the kids on a Sunday, because Saturdays are usually taken up with outings. On other days it opens at 8 a.m.
The bread
The bread sits on wooden racks behind the window, each type with a small chalkboard label. The names are in Korean only, and some of the prices on the boards were too small to read in our photos, so I have only listed the ones I could read clearly. Most breads are between 3,000 and 5,000 won.

| Bread | Korean | Price (won) |
|---|---|---|
| Chocolate matcha pound cake | 초코말차 파운드케이크 | 4,200 |
| “Addictive” corn loaf | 마약 옥수수식빵 | 4,800 |
| Potato loaf | 감자식빵 | 4,500 |
Other breads on the racks when we visited included salt bread (소금빵), creamy salt bread (크리미 소금빵), egg mayo salt bread (에그마요 소금빵), honey cream roll ciabatta (허니크림롤 치아바타), fig and cream cheese campagne (무화과 크림치즈 깜빠뉴), ChaCha cream bun (차차 슈크림빵), egg tarts (에그타르트), berry crumble pie (“베리” 크럼블 파이), ham and cheese bread (햄치즈), croissants (크로와상), pain au chocolat (뺑오) and a butter pound cake (버터 파운드 조각 케이크).

The ChaCha loaf (차차 식빵) sits in its own spot by the window, with a chalkboard label marked “Best”.

There is also a small glass fridge by the counter with cakes and pastries, including tiramisu and an apple cream pastry.

What we had
We sat at a round table by the window and shared a loaf, cut into thick slices, a salt bread and a slice of chocolate roll cake with cream, with two iced lattes for the adults. Everything came on simple white plates with a paper sticker of the shop’s brown puppy mascot.

The bread was the reason to come. It was warm, the dough was chewy, and the fillings were generous. It does not try to be unusual; it is solid, classic bakery bread, the kind you are happy to buy again.

An earlier visit, when it had just opened
My wife first went to ChaCha Bakery with the kids on a Saturday morning soon after it opened, on the way back from grocery shopping, to pick up bread to take to my parents’ house. The bakery’s own line is that it bakes with a natural sourdough starter and a long, cold fermentation, and that bread is made and sold on the same day. That morning there were about fifteen kinds of bread out, and fresh trays kept coming from the kitchen, so the shop smelled of baking. There is a Balmuda toaster with tongs and trays by the bread if you want to warm yours up to eat in.
She bought five things: a blueberry cream cheese loaf (4,500 won), a multigrain loaf (5,600 won), a coconut kaya croissant (5,200 won), a chocolate chip cookie (2,600 won) and a crescent campagne (4,700 won), at the prices then. The loaves are large, so the bag was heavy. At my parents’ house they turned out to be very good: well filled, buttery, with a chewy crumb. For the size, the prices felt fair.
They had planned to take everything away, but my wife asked if the kids could eat one cookie at a table first, and the owner happily said yes. The chocolate chip cookie was thick, crisp and packed with chips, and big enough that the two kids shared one and still left a little, which they finished while walking home. The counter also sells jam and small bottles of balsamic oil, the cake fridge had tiramisu, Basque cheesecake and brownies, and there were two kinds of stickers with the shop’s puppy character, one of which each child took home.
Drinks and seating
ChaCha Bakery works as a café too. Besides coffee, the drinks menu has chocolate milk, strawberry latte and green grape ade, which is useful when you have kids with you. When my wife first visited, an Americano was 3,500 won, chocolate milk 4,000 won and the strawberry latte and green grape ade 5,000 won each; prices may have changed since.
Seating is limited: a bar table and two round tables by the tall windows with a view of the street and the apartment blocks across it. The room is bright, and on the visit my wife made on a Saturday morning at around 10:30, all the tables but one were taken, so on a weekend you may need a little luck.

Would we go back?
Yes. ChaCha Bakery is not a destination bakery with a line out the door, but it is a good local bakery with fresh, well-made bread and a pleasant place to sit with a coffee. If you are in Gamil, remember that it is closed on Sundays. I am giving it 4.2 out of 5.
