Baegundang Bakery (백운당제빵소) is a large bakery cafe on Hwadong-ro in Idong-myeon, Pocheon, with a long bread counter inside and cartoon character statues on the lawn outside. We stopped there as a family of four on the afternoon of March 29, 2026, after lunch at Galbi Saenggak, on the way home from camping in Gapyeong. We had an ice cream parfait, two iced americanos and a tray of bread. The bread was average rather than memorable, but the choice was huge, and the kids spent the rest of the stop playing around the statues.

The last stop of a camping trip
We had spent three days at Mulmyeong Camp in Gapyeong. On the last day we packed up, drove to Pocheon for a galbi lunch at Galbi Saenggak in Idong, and then stopped at Baegundang for coffee and dessert before heading home.
The bakery is a long, low black building with a white “백운당 제빵소” sign and a large parking lot in front. DiningCode tags it as spacious, with a terrace, free parking and good for going with children.
Inside
Inside, it is one big hall with a high black ceiling, red steel pillars, wooden floors, potted plants and large windows along one side. The bread is laid out on metal trays along a long counter in the middle, and you pick what you want onto a tray with the serving spatulas, then order drinks and pay at the counter.

The bread counter
The most striking thing about Baegundang was the number of breads. The trays held bagels, milk loaves, soboro buns, round country loaves, croissant sandwiches, filled rolls and boxed rice cake desserts, each with a small price card. Prices are written in thousands of won, so 7.0 means 7,000 won. A few of the cards I could read in my photos:
| Bread | Korean | Price (won) |
|---|---|---|
| Condensed milk loaf | 연유식빵 | 7,000 |
| Coffee chestnut bread | 커피마롱 | 6,500 |
| Fig country loaf | 무화과 캄파뉴 | 6,500 |
| White roll | 화이트롤 | 6,500 |
| Americano (DiningCode) | 아메리카노 | 6,000 |

What we ate
Our tray had a condensed milk loaf in a foil tin, pulled apart into rolls, a round bun with a crisp chocolate chip topping, a round bun with a golden top and pumpkin seeds, and a glossy roll. We also bought a bag of chocolate muffins and a pack of chocolate chip cookies with the Baegundang sticker to take with us.

On the whole, the bread was average. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out enough that we would drive back for a particular item. What Baegundang has is choice: there are so many kinds that everyone in a family can find something.
The ice cream parfait
For the kids, we ordered an ice cream parfait: soft serve in a glass cup, topped with chocolate waffle cookie pieces and cornflakes. My wife and I had two iced americanos.

The statues outside
Outside, there is a lawn and deck with large character statues: a rainbow arch with a row of blue cartoon cat figures, a big panda holding a sign with the bakery’s name, a yellow cartoon dog and elephant figures. A rocky hillside rises behind them. After we finished eating, the kids went out and played around the statues while we finished our coffee.

Planning a stop
Idong-myeon in Pocheon is known for its galbi restaurants. Baegundang is on Hwadong-ro in the same area, so it pairs naturally with a meal there, as it did for us. With free parking, a big indoor room and space outside for children, it is an easy place to take a break before the drive home. DiningCode lists opening hours of 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Words on the price cards
- 제빵소 (jeppangso): bakery, literally “bread-making place”.
- 식빵 (sikppang): a soft white loaf; 연유 is condensed milk.
- 캄파뉴 (kampanyu): campagne, a round country loaf.
- 마롱 (marong): marron, chestnut.
- 무화과 (muhwagwa): fig.
Worth a stop?
As a place for a coffee break with kids on a drive through Pocheon, yes: it is big, easy to park at, and the statues outside keep children busy. If you are coming only for the bread, I would not go out of your way, since ours was average. I am giving it 3.5 out of 5.
